This cabin is constructed of high quality Southern Yellow Pine, and the siding is made of red oak. This single-nest birdhouse is functional with several features that we include in all our birdhouses such as:

  • 3/4" solid pine construction recommended for insulation from both heat and cold.
  • Thick bird openings and no perches outside of bird holes, which protects small songbirds from larger predators.
  • Ventilation along eaves to keep birds from suffocating heat.
  • Removable roof for easy clean-out in between bird families.
The basic box of this house is made of Southern Yellow Pine. The window and door frames are cut from red oak. The siding is made of individually cut planks of red oak, it is painted with exterior grade paint and weathered with both abrasives and stain. The base dimensions are 20" x 22" and the house is 16" high.

All of the windows on this house are framed in, as opposed to guled onto the surface of the siding. On one hand of the house is a beautiful leaded-glass window that Ben simulated.

Ben has his brickwork down to perfection. This brick is actually pine board, the mortar etched by hand and each brick hand-painted. The shrubbery around the house is real moss.

The porch pillars were all completely hand-made, including the Roman-type moldings at the top. They sit on a slab made to look concrete.
